Do I get native 4k Ultra HD?

Considering how gimmick-heavy the film is, it's not surprising that Aquaman was finished in 2k, as 4k rendering of digital effects is still extremely expensive and challenging. The Ultra HD Blu-ray is therefore upsampled, but the transfer has a few aces up its sleeve that play a much more crucial role in a quality audiovisual experience, namely the expanded brightness and colour gamut. Aquaman was finalised for IMAX, which breaks down the image to 1.78:1 in the underwater scenes; and for Dolby Cinema presentations, it was from these that HDR grading then moved to home entertainment media as well. As well as the classic HDR-10, this also means that premium Dolby Vision (and a Dolby Atmos track) is present on the disc, with both HDR layers taking care of the brightness and contrast range, which is completely out of the Blu-ray's reach. Nowhere has Aquaman looked better than on Ultra HD Blu-ray, and in all likelihood it never will.
