Do I get native 4k Ultra HD?
Yes. While Scorsese is very comfortable with digital technology, for this film he turned back to the analogue era and shot it on classic 35mm film - probably because of its specific visual patina and grain. As we know, the theoretical resolution of classic 35mm can be around 6k, so when this footage was scanned to 4k for post-production purposes, there was more than enough visual information on the tape to produce a high-quality transfer. This was indeed a success - the UHD presentation on Ultra HD Blu-ray is considered by many to be one of the best to appear on the format this year, and can only be expected to have reference image qualities in every conceivable component.
