Do I get native 4k Ultra HD?

The Mummy and The Mummy Returns was shot on classic 35mm film, which the studio restored and remastered to create the basis for the 4k master. Thus, the Ultra HD Blu-ray transfer can benefit from the increase in resolution compared to BD, whose sharpness only softens for the digital effects, which were most likely created in 2k and only edited into the negatives. Of course HDR and WCG also benefit enormously. Judging by the reactions of foreign reviewers, which we can confirm after watching it ourselves, the transfer can be praised as extremely successful with an astonishing sense of detail and sharpness. At the same time, the UHDBD preserves the qualities of the original source material and is thus probably the definitive audiovisual representation of the film, which, given the source material, will not look any better.

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor was shot on classic 35mm film and whether the studio restored and remastered the film is questionable. If not, it will likely be from the original 2k master (post-production was already done in 2k). If so, it will be from a new 4k scan and thus master. What option Universal has decided to go with is unfortunately unknown. Anyway, as with the previous episodes, foreign reviews are enthusiastic about the transfer. Although the third part does not bring as big a leap from the Blu-ray as the previous two, the excellent detail and texture work is praised here as well.
