Do I get native 4k Ultra HD?
Yes. Howard's cult fantasy Willow was, of course, originally shot on classic analog 35mm film. The studio revisited it, created a 4K scan, and subsequently a native 4K master. However, the image shouldn't be expected to undergo as dramatic an upgrade as some other newly restored films. The visual quality of Willow is held back by the presence of composite effects, which significantly reduce sharpness and detail. This is naturally due to the film's production process. While Willow may not dazzle with top-notch fine detail or other video qualities, and despite its relatively high grain levels in some places, it's fair to say that the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray transfer offers the best possible version of the film.
