Do I get native 4k ULTRA HD?

Considering its age, it's not surprising that American Sniper falls in a period when digital production wasn't that advanced and its standard was usually more around 2k. The fact that it was shot on the Arri Alexa XT, whose resolution of raw footage was at 2.8k, fits this. So post-production logically continued at 2k, which was also the resolution at which the final master stopped. For UHD purposes, the film is therefore upsampled. As we've come to expect, though, we can still expect a slight upgrade over the standard Blu-ray - both in the strength of the clarity and, more importantly, in the colour and brightness presentation, which are proving to be strengths of visual presentation even with such catalogue titles. One thing is for sure anyway - as the format wrings the absolute maximum out of the source material, the film will never look better.
