Do I get native 4k Ultra HD?

Yes. The Hunt for Red Octorber was shot on 35mm film stock and even the VFX sequences were created with practical effects, so digital technology never interfered with the prints (and the film was made at a time when DI prints were not made). This allowed the studio to reach for the original negatives, scan them in 4k and create a distribution master in the same resolution when the title was released on 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray. Thus, as with all such catalogue transfers, a native 4k transfer can be expected to deliver better detail and sharpness, as well as better grain definition, deeper colours and higher quality brightness range, alongside more effective compression and contrast work.
